The name "Ruby" has been applied to a number of red gemstones throughout history including garnets and spinels. It was only through the development of the chemistry and mineralogy that distinctions could be scientifically made. This wonderful belgian ring was designed in the 70s, the nature and flower epoch. The gorgeous central stone is a marquise-cut 0.65ct Ruby, surrounded by 10 brilliant-cut white Diamonds for 0.30ct total. This type of bezel is called "entourage". An entourage ring is a ring with a large center stone surrounded by a row of smaller stones, usually diamonds. The most common method of setting found in an entourage ring is with shared prongs. In contemporary parlance, these rings are sometimes referred to as "halo" rings. The ring is in very good used condition with normal signs of wear commensurate with the age of the jewel.
