Description More about this product
Gorgeous Portuguese crucifix in 19kt yellow gold representing Jesus crucified. The term crucifix refers to a cross with Jesus on it. Sublime work of details on both sides, this pendant is in good condition. On the left side has a missing small flower. The crucifix is dating from the 65s. Portuguese jewelery art is famous for the quality of the gold, 19kt, and the very decorative design details of the handwork. Different techniques are used to decorate this crucifix. Beaded wire : Wire is referred to as “beaded” when a bead-like decorative element is added to its edge. Millegraining is one technique that can be used to bead wire (or any raised edge), die striking is another. The resultant wire is used in filigree work, creating borders and designs. Filigree : Filigree is the name given jewelry designs created from very fine metal wires soldered in intricate patterns. Openwork : Openwork uses piercing techniques to produce decorative motifs by cutting away metal on a flat area or band to allow the passage of light. The crucifix is in very good used condition with normal signs of wear commensurate with the age of the jewel.
